When former government agent, Derrick Thomas, awakes to find

Government agent Derrick Thomas awakes from a disturbing dream to find a message from his father asking for help. As he sets out to lend his assistance he quickly discovers that not only can he not find his father, but that a clandestine government agency is out to derail his search before it can begin. After the murders of two of his father’s colleagues and the further disappearances of his mother and sister, Derrick is thrust into a fight for his own life and the struggle to uncover details of a secret government experiment which his family may be part of. Will he be able to save them and uncover the truth before he becomes the next victim of a government bent on keeping him silent?

With a minute to spare Derrick entered the reserved docking-port at the transport terminal. He docked his cruiser and sprinted toward the waiting transport. Dodging through several slow moving passengers and people waiting, he vaulted himself into the first pod of the transport. As he landed mid-pod, he felt a sudden jerk backwards, almost knocking him off his feet. “Hey you! Where do you think you’re going? No ticket, No ride asshole!” was the gruff declaration coming from the large man holding him by the collar. Normally an annoyance of this degree, even as rude as it was, would only warrant a simple explanation from Derrick (as he possessed a small portion of his mother’s restraint), but on a day like today, that was not his first option.
In what must have seemed like a split-second to the man (but was probably more like two or three) Derrick brought his right arm straight up, turned his hips to the right and brought his elbow crashing down on the man’s wrist. While not capable of doing severe damage; the strike forced the man with over-sized hands to release his grip on Derrick’s collar. Free from the man’s hold, Derrick, now side by side with the man facing him, brought his right leg behind the man’s leg and hit him with a stiff blow to the chest. Creating a lever under the man’s leg, the blow was enough to send him toppling backward to the ground. Derrick descended onto the man’s chest with a knee which consequently knocked the air from the man’s lungs. Derrick reached around to his back where his firearm was holstered, and pulled from his back-pocket his government credentials....(Read further Excerpts Here)
